I mentioned it this morning, and the discussion helped... I'm stumped, but now adjusting parts of my book. But just going back to remember the main point of the book has given me some guidance. So back to the keyboard I go!
The best encouragement I can give is to follow your intuition. Always. There is so much heart in your memoir! That will resonate with readers. If you have not yet read Deep Memoir by Dr. Jennifer Selig, I highly recommend it. I'm learning so much about writing and how to translate the crucially important personal into equally important universal threads.
I enjoyed hearing of your openness to receiving feedback and pivoting, plus upcoming plans for publishing booklets and your book, with the time and attention it needs. Glad to hear your voice here!
Adjusted goals are a great way to make things happen. Making a goal is just the start of the process. As long as you have forward momentum, you are making progress! Sounds like you have all the pieces in place to help you be a successful writer, including being an active part of a writing community, partnering with impressive people, and having the desire to share your knowledge with others. Keep up the great work, Jacque!
My "self-talk" is changing...once I've learned to recognize that voice and "validate it"...then my head gets a lot quieter & I can get necessary work done.
When "I hit a bump" in my writing, I slow down...just like a car. Lately, I remind myself that it's "progress not perfection".
Handling my emotions is still a hard one for me, so I put on my softy pants, make tea, pet my kitty, and remember that, "After all, tomorrow is another day"
Kathleen, I am so grateful to know that you are adjusting your self-talk and learning how to make it work FOR YOU, rather than against. Keep working on it, because YOU are worth fighting for. ❤️

Karen, Thank you! I appreciate your energy, enthusiasm and wisdom that help to energize and inspire me. I am grateful. 🥰
Yes Jacque! Booklets for rescues and shelters. What a good idea. And another important one!
Thank you, Ann!

Love it - What do I want the reader to know? I also adjusted my goals this year :)
That is so wise, Anu! Wishing you all the best!
I have a greeting card that states, “A bend in the road is not the end of the road.” As you always say, Jacque, “Write, Revise, Repeat.”
A revised timeline for the book you want to publish is a win! Congratulations!
Wendy, I LOVE that! "A bend in the road is not the end of the road." Thank you! ❤️
Love it, too. I wish I knew who the author is to give appropriate credit.
Oooo… I resonate with this all very deeply, thanks for the reminder to adjust, don’t abandon! Very wise words Jacque!
So glad it resonated, Heidi. YOU must not abandon! Your writing is far too important!
Thank you always for your encouragement 🥰
